Tips for an Awesome Shrimp Fest Weekend!

Shrimp Festival, Liquid Life Vacation Rentals

The 46th Annual National Shrimp Festival is coming up soon! You’ll enjoy entertainment, art, shopping, sports and of course food! But don’t be overwhelmed by all the options available to you! We are here to give you the local’s guide to Shrimp Fest including our tips for an awesome Shrimp Fest weekend!

The best day to visit the festival. When is comes to shopping, our strategy is to go on Thursday, when the crowds are low, and scope out which art booths we are interested in. Then go back on Sunday to make our purchases. Crowds are at their lowest point on Sunday and sometimes artists are willing to give you a better price to get rid of inventory before the end of the festival. As far a music is concerned, you definitely want to check out the schedule of events and line up to ensure you don’t miss any of your favorite bands!

Cajun Pistols. The very first thing you want to do after arriving to the festival is walk over to Rockin Rogers and get yourself a cajun pistol! These will be the culinary highlight of your festival experience. Cajun Pistols vary depending on who is making them but they are essentially a cheese and crawfish stuffed beignet with a spicy sauce. These WILL sell out! Get them while you can! They are made to order meaning there could be a wait but it’s totally worth it!

Sunscreen. One of the things people forget the most when at the Shrimp Festival is sunscreen. Don’t forget to reapply! We experience summer like temperatures in October. So, you’ll also want to stay hydrated.

Shuttles. Don't worry about trying to find a parking spot! There are shuttles running from 9 pick up locations and only cost $5 per passenger for an all day pass. They run approximately every 15 minutes from each location. There is also a weekend transit pass available!
