Leave Only Footprints on our Gulf Coast Beaches!

So what are all of these Leave Only Footprints signs on Orange Beach and Gulf Shores beaches? What do they mean for your vacation?

The Leave Only Footprints campaign brings attention to our gorgeous beaches and how you can help to keep them that way! More than 5 million visitors walk across our shores each year; if we all pitch in, only our footprints will be left on the beach each day!

The basic rule to follow? Take everything with you at the end of the day! Beach patrol will remove anything left on the beach an hour after sunset.

Slip on those flip flops, grab your best beach towel, and find the best place for your umbrella to enjoy a day of fun in the sun on the Gulf Coast. After you've spent hours on the sugar-white sandy beaches, remember to take your memories - and leave only footprints.

This policy exists to ensure the health of our pristine white-sand beaches, the beachgoers who enjoy them, and the diverse wildlife that depends on them.

Our best tip for staying cool in the sun is to bring umbrellas with carrying cases instead of large canopy tents. Easier to carry, easier to clean up. When bringing beach chairs, consider those with straps or a backpack feature. Towels, blankets and inflatable chairs are other great options that are easy to pack up at the end of each day.

Most all the boardwalks and beaches at properties in Orange Beach and Gulf Shores have trash cans and recycling bins. Please dispose of any trash, food or water bottles that you use throughout the day. This keeps our beaches clean and the wildlife safe!

Share the Beach with our Turtle Friends

Thousands of endangered sea turtles nest on our beaches each year! If you happen upon one of these nests, please leave it alone! You can read more about how to share the beach with these beautiful creatures here at alabamaseaturtles.com.
