A Day in the Life of a Liquid Life Intern: Top 10 Things to Do on a Rainy Day on the Gulf

2

Hi everyone! This is Sarah Brumagin, and I’m spending my summer working with Liquid Life on the Guest Services & Arrivals Team! As a northern gal from Cleveland, Ohio, it’s been so fun exploring all that Orange Beach has to offer. Living here is an absolute dream come true! I love the beaches, the food, the shops, and the kind people that make up the Orange Beach community. With the not-so-lovely weather that just came through, my plans of sand volleyball on the beach all day got put on hold, but a little rain isn’t going to stop me from further exploring my new home! I thought up a list of fun things to do to take full advantage of your time here at the beach, and I hope you join me in all the fun to be had while we wait for the clouds to roll out!

You’ve been booking, planning, packing & traveling, and you arrive at what are usually the sunny beaches of the Gulf Coast - andddd it’s raining. Not exactly what you hoped for on your beach getaway vacation, right? The good news is that Orange Beach and Gulf Shores have so much more to offer than just our beautiful beaches and outdoor adventures.

1. Just relax in your condo! - I know it sounds simple, but what are beach vacations for? Relax, sleep in, hang out with the family, cook a meal together, play some board games, watch the rain from the comfort of your home-away-from-home, and get some quality re-charge time in. You’ve earned it!

2. Shopping! - There are so many stores around town that are great places to check out. Go get yourself a cute Orange Beach t-shirt to add to your collection or maybe even a sweatshirt to cuddle up in for nights on the patio or walking the beach. There are also a number of adorable boutiques where you can find the perfect outfit for when the sun is back out and shining. Some of my favorites include Tiki Island Boutique, Lucca Boutique, and The Orange Beach Store.

3. Go try your hand at axe throwing! - Try your luck at Civil Axe Throwing Orange Beach. You might discover that you’ve missed your calling as a professional lumberjack, but who can say until you throw an axe or two?

4. Visit The Arena the Next Level at The Wharf! The Arena the Next Level is great for all ages! They have arcade games, laser tag, and bazooka ball. You and your family can run around until your heart is content here. Rain who?

5. Try out one (or all!) of the Gulf Coast's local coffee shops! - What’s better on a rainy day than a delicious latte? Buzzcatz is a super fun cafe with award winning food. With comfy seating, shelves stocked with books to browse, cinnamon rolls to devour and board games available to play around tables while sipping on your coffee, it’s the perfect place to kick back for a couple of hours.

6. Take a trip to the Coastal Arts Center! - At the art center, you can create your own blown glass artwork at The Hot Shop, spin a clay pot at the Clay Studio or just wander the beautiful gallery they have on display.

7. Go get your nails done, have a spa day, and pamper yourself! - There are numerous nail and spa places around the island where you can unwind and come out feeling refreshed and as radiant as that sun that you’re waiting on to come out.

8. Go to the Orange Beach Public library! - Pick up some DVDs, a book for your next beach day or a puzzle to put together. You don’t have to be a resident of Orange Beach to use their services, so go find your favorite stories and enjoy!

9. The Factory Gulf Shores is another family-fun location to try! - With everything from arcade games to rock climbing at The Factory Gulf Shores, you won’t want to leave!

10. Plan your next day of fun! - As someone who is always looking forward to the next adventure, my rainy day activities usually include some quality planning time for my next exploration. Book a parasailing flight, a dolphin cruise, kayaking or paddle board rentals - and plan your next day of fun!

Here in Orange Beach, a rainy day is more like a rainy hour - and then the sun is back out again & the beaches are waiting for you!
